Overview
This site is a personal portfolio for John Niedermeyer. It is intentionally lightweight and does not currently include user accounts, checkout, or a public-facing submission form.
This notice describes the limited information the site may store or receive, and how that information is handled today.
What the site stores in your browser
The site currently uses browser storage for a small set of interface preferences: the selected theme and
whether the column grid overlay is visible. In the code, those values are stored under the keys
nieder.theme and nieder.cols-grid-visible.
Those preferences are used only to remember how the site should appear on your device. They are not used for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking.
If you contact me
If you email me, I will receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message contents, and any attachments. That correspondence may also pass through your email provider and mine.
I use that information only to read, respond to, and keep track of relevant conversations.
Hosting logs and security
Like most websites, the hosting environment or delivery infrastructure may automatically create basic request logs. Those logs can include information such as IP address, browser or device details, referring page, requested URL, and timestamp.
That information may be used for uptime, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and security operations.
Analytics and what this site does not currently do
This site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and engagement, such as page visits, referral or campaign information, browser and device context, and broad interaction signals. When I share a portfolio link directly for a job conversation or outreach thread, that link may also include an attribution token so I can understand how that shared visit moved through the site. The local theme and column-grid preferences described above remain separate browser settings and are not used as analytics identifiers.
This site does not currently use advertising, account registration, or payment processing. I do not sell personal information collected through this site.
Third-party links and updates
This site links out to third-party destinations such as GitHub, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, company sites, and archived references. Those sites operate under their own terms and privacy practices.
